Conventional cargo is being handled in the Land Zone of the Port of Thessaloniki Port in an area extending on 1,000,000 m2 of total surface with 4,000 m long quays and with depth up to 12 m, the largest part of which being in the Free Zone.
The Conventional Cargo Terminal operates in two shifts on weekdays and one on Saturdays, with a single service tariff, while service is also available after working hours on a relative charge.
The handling of conventional cargo in transit is complemented and enhanced by the operation of the Free Zone (Control Type I).

The Conventional Cargo Terminal handles the following:
· General Cargo such as steel, marble, tobacco, fruits and palletized cargo
· Solid Bulk Cargo such as minerals, ores, coal, solid fuel, cereal, feedstuffs, fertilizers, cement and scrap.
· Liquid Bulk Cargo with piping such as caustic soda, asphalt, chemicals, mineral oils and wine.
· Vehicles with the Ro-Ro system.
