THPA SA, having as its target an experiential acquaintance of children with the port and its operations, applies the educational program «Getting to know my city's port", which is designed for elementary-school students.

The program's basic aim is to acquaint the children with their city's port, its historical course as well as its operations in today's present reality. The educational program is divided into three phases and it is accompanied by an informative book titled "Getting to know the Port" which is given for free by the Thessaloniki Port Authority.

During the first phase, the children are lead to warehouse C, for a short presentation of the port's history. With the use of audiovisual applications they can see and compare the form and uses of the port today and in the past, during its first period of operation.

During the second phase, through experiential role-playing, an effort is made to re-enact their newly acquired knowledge related with the services provided and activities of the port. This way, the children can become merchants from Spain, customs' officers, coastguard officers, mariners, security officers etc.

In the third phase, the children visit various areas of the port and locate its basic parts such as the passenger terminal, the conventional port and the container terminal, while they try to link them to the game they played.
