On the occasion of Mother’s Day, ThPA strengthens shelters and support services for women survivors of violence and their children in Thessaloniki
ThPA S.A. is launching the Corporate Social Responsibility program “A Port for Everyone”, a structured framework of initiatives and actions aimed at systematically strengthening the local community in Thessaloniki and the wider region. The program is built around pillars such as people, the environment, and culture, focusing on initiatives supporting vulnerable population groups, education, child protection, health, and urban infrastructure, as well as support for remote border areas and innovation.
The Port recognizes its role as a key driver of growth and a generator of economic value for Northern Greece, while ensuring its contribution extends beyond the economic dimension. Development is sustainable only when it is inclusive and when robust economic performance translates into tangible value for society. Addressing the needs of the community as a whole is what defines the Port as an integral part of Northern Greece’s identity and a catalyst for socio-economic progress.
On the recent occasion of Mother’s Day, ThPA S.A. is launching the first action of this program by supporting shelters and support services for women victims of violence and their children in Thessaloniki. This initiative will cover essential equipment and daily care items. Specifically, the program supports:
- The Shelter for Women Victims of Violence & their Children, Municipality of Thessaloniki,
- The Accommodation Center for Victims of Violence & their Children, Municipality of Kordelio–Evosmos,
- The Shelter for Women Victims of Violence of EKKA Thessaloniki,
- The Women’s Center “IRIDA”
This initiative is part of the Organization’s broader long-term strategy to foster its relationship with the local community and consistently create social value. As a vital pillar of the socio-economic ecosystem of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece, and within the framework of its overall transformation through major development projects—centered on the expansion of Pier 6—ThPA S.A. remains committed to the sustainable and socially beneficial progress of the wider region.
Regarding this initiative, the CEO of ThPA S.A., Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, stated: “The growth of the Port of Thessaloniki directly fuels the development of the city. For us, Corporate Social Responsibility is not a fragmented activity, but an integral part of our active presence in Thessaloniki and the relationship we foster with the local community. Through the ‘A Port for Everyone’ program, we are implementing social actions in a more structured and consistent manner, beginning with support for facilities that provide protection and care to women and children in need. This new CSR program reflects the core values of ThPA S.A. and our people’s commitment to solidarity and social contribution. Our goal is a model of port development that drives economic progress across the wider region, while simultaneously providing targeted and effective support to society.”
In the coming period, ThPA S.A. will gradually roll out additional actions and collaborations with city stakeholders and civil society organizations, aiming to establish a stable framework of social contribution with a long-term impact.
