“Makedonia” Passenger Terminal
“Makedonia” Passenger Terminal of the Port of Thessaloniki, is only 500 meters away from the city center. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offers passengers high quality services, satisfying all modern needs.
It is housed on the ground floor of an emblematic neoclassical building, at the main gate of the port. The building was designed by the architect Alexander Valaury and supervised by Elie Modiano and is a typical example of the architecture prevalent in industrial buildings at the beginning of the 20th century.
It is one of the most important examples of the eclectic architecture of Thessaloniki, imposing and impressive with many French influences and was the first building in the city whose supporting structure was made of reinforced concrete.
