Today, the President of the Provincial Government, Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia, Ms. Maja Gojković, visited ThPA S.A., accompanied by the Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, Mr. Nenad Ivanišević, the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina, Mr. Boško Vučurević, Ms. Jelena Vujić Obradović, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Thessaloniki, and the President of the Greek-Serbian Chamber of Northern Greece, Mr. Konstantinos Georgakos. The visit took place in the context of the Serbian delegation’s visit to Thessaloniki, on the initiative of the Greek-Serbian Chamber of Northern Greece, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Northern Greece and the province of Vojvodina in the fields of trade, tourism, and the economy. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, CEO of ThPA S.A., Mr. Georgios Papageorgiou, Chief Administrative Officer of ThPA S.A., as well as other executives.
As Serbia’s most economically developed region, with strong agricultural production, industrial activity, and a dynamic presence of research centers, Vojvodina has significant growth potential. Furthermore, its geographical position highlights its role as a bridge between the markets of Serbia and Northern Greece, creating fertile ground for the further development of commercial, tourist, and productive synergies.
During the meeting, the delegation had the chance to be informed about the implementation of the investment plan of ThPA S.A., and the dynamics created by the enhanced efficiency and competitiveness of the port of Thessaloniki. A key role in this perspective is played by the expansion of Pier 6, a project that substantially upgrades the port, consolidating its leading role as a transit node for Southeast Europe.
The discussion focused on the prospects for developing bilateral relations through the rail connection between Greece and Serbia and the promotion of competitive intermodal solutions. This strengthening of supply chain corridors creates new opportunities for businesses and contributes to the revival of historical cooperation between the two countries.
Ms. Gojković expressed her appreciation for the warm hospitality, noting: “Our visit to ThPA S.A. confirms our will to deepen commercial, tourist, and social relations at a bilateral level and reflects the prospects for further interconnection in high-value-adding sectors.”
Mr. Tsaras thanked the delegation, emphasizing: “Today’s meeting confirms that Greece and Serbia have significant potential for cooperation, and we are particularly pleased that ThPA S.A. is the link for further developing our relations.”
