Visit of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Giannis Plakiotakis, accompanied by the Secretary General of Ports Port Policy and Maritime Investments, Evangelos Kyriazopoulos and the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office in Thessaloniki, Maria Antoniou took place today, Tuesday April 20, 2021 at ThPA S.A.

The Minister was welcomed at the Administration building, by the Executive Chairman of the BoD of ThPA S.A., Thanos Liagkos, the Managing Director-Chief Executive Officer of ThPA S.A., Franco Nicola Cupolo, the Chief Investment Officer of ThPA S.A., Artur Davidian and other executives of the company.

ThPA S.A. Management informed the Minister about the status of the Investment Plan and the progress of the major infrastructure development projects, focusing on the Expansion of Pier 6, as well as the equipment modernization program and the services provided in the Port of Thessaloniki.

Mr. Plakiotakis highlighted the significance of the emblematic Pier 6 expansion project for the development of the Port of Thessaloniki and expressed his satisfaction for the efficient and effective implementation of the Investment Plan which is on schedule, stressing the important financial and social benefits on a local and national level. Furthermore, the Minister added “The Port of Thessaloniki is rapidly developing and our goal is to contribute in every way to support its further establishment as the Main Gateway Port in South East and Central Europe”.

The Executive Chairman of the BoD of ThPA S.A., Thanos Liagkos warmly thanked the Minister for the ongoing support and full cooperation recognizing its vital contribution to the development of the Port of Thessaloniki and stressed that the milestones accomplished are the result of coordinated efforts made by Management, all of ThPA S.A. personnel, the close cooperation between ThPA S.A. Management and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and fruitful and open communication with the entire port community. Furthermore, the Executive Chairman of the BoD of ThPA S.A. added “The Port of Thessaloniki has developed into a growth accelerator for the national economy while supporting the local community which is the result of our plan, dedication and teamwork on a daily basis, for which we are proud, especially during this challenging period within the pandemic.”
