ThPA S.A. actively participates in the most important “meeting point” of the global shipping community, engaging with industry leaders and placing the Port of Thessaloniki at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and international trade corridors.
The landmark gathering of global shipping, currently taking place in Athens, brings leading representatives of the international maritime industry to Greece and places Greek ports at the center of developments. ThPA S.A. participates in Posidonia 2026, a reference point for the dialogue on the future of shipping and maritime transport. This year’s event brings together thousands of industry professionals, representatives of shipping companies, ports, technology providers, and logistics stakeholders from around the world.
During the exhibition, executives of ThPA S.A. held a series of meetings with representatives of the international shipping and port industry, exchanging views on developments that strengthen ports and supply chains. At a time when the search for sustainable and resilient trade corridors is upgrading the role of port infrastructure, visitors showed particular interest in the upgrade of the Port of Thessaloniki and the new opportunities being created for the wider region.
ThPA S.A.’s participation in Posidonia coincides with an important moment for the port, which is implementing the largest investment program in its history. At the center of the discussions was the Pier 6 expansion project, expected to significantly enhance the Port’s capacity and international competitiveness, enabling the service of main liner vessels and further upgrading the role of Thessaloniki as a gateway for trade and logistics development for Southeastern and Central Europe.
At the same time, the meetings highlighted issues that are currently at the heart of the international dialogue on shipping and ports, such as the digitalization of operations, sustainability, and the enhancement of supply chain resilience. These are priorities already incorporated into ThPA S.A.’s investment and operational planning, as the transformation of the port is directly linked to the creation of more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced port infrastructure.
On this occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of ThPA S.A., Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, stated: “Our participation in Posidonia 2026 confirms the active role of the Port of Thessaloniki in the international dialogue on the future of shipping, Greek ports, and the supply chain. At a time when resilience, sustainability, and connectivity are becoming increasingly important, ThPA S.A. is consistently implementing a development program that substantially upgrades the port’s capabilities and strengthens Thessaloniki’s position as a strategic gateway for trade and transport in Southeastern Europe. With the Pier 6 expansion project at its core, we are investing in infrastructure, technology, and partnerships that create value for the shipping community, the national economy, the city, and the wider region.”
